Originally by: Merdaneth Congratulations on correctly identifying the problem with capacitor warfare: cap boosters.
The solution should be simple: remove cap boosters. They make cap recharge rates, and many cap recharge modules along with them, largely meaningless in many PvP setups.
Once cap boosters are removed, even a slightly better recharge rate should help give Amarr ships an edge.
This is very true and I would love to see this. It would also make people consider fitting ABs instead of slapping a mwd on every godforsaken ship. /signed and /signed.

How so?
I fit a MWD even on ships which don't have the spare mids for a cap booster (T1 cruisers like the Rupture can't fit a booster - neither can nano-ships).
It's not like I plan to MWD with one forever, and it relies on a buffer and damage to survive, not active tanking (for example, on the Rupture the repper is mostly for cleaning up after the fight, and occasionally it gets thrown out in favour of another gyrostab). Without a MWD, you're just screwed in a whole host of situations (and can't get a fight in others), which is the reason it will stay a 'must-fit' module.
Cap booster is for fueling active tanks, which are esentially useless unless you dual-rep. Taking out cap boosters would basically make plate or extender setups >> active tank setups in most cases, since you just couldn't make a decent active tank setup anymore - there'd be no juice to power it after less then a minute.
Don't think removing cap boosters would do anything about MWDs - it'd just mess up active tanking.
You lose alot of cap and cap recharge by just putting an mwd on your ship. This has a huge impact on amarr ships and the time they can fire guns and tank. There are way too many "1-minute-kill or die" setups. Try flying a blaster mega with mwd and see how long he lasts without his cap booster. Not long enough for some fights. Wich would make him fit AB instead and that would give amarr ships for example some more time to actually use their range advantage before he gets close and rips you a new one.

This is a very good idea, I dont understand why people are against it. Is it because now you cant do everything at once? Sure even if they cant remove the module a size nerf is in place for cap booster charges. Make em 3 times as big. You can still fit em but atleast they wont let you run for whole fights. If you want to sustain your ship for longer you gotta sacrifice one or two things.

I think vagas can be set to passive without boosters, but alot of other stupid ship fittings like "I can blaster you to oblivion within 1 min and burn 20k cap and mwd all i want" would see their well deserved grave.
